Ed passed away at home in Edina, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Albin and Mae Kocourek; siblings Francis Kocourek (Mary) and Mary Ethel Ryan (Paul) and brother-in-law Jerry Fischer. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Julianne (Fischer), and their eight children: Edward (Suzie), Anne Larson, Monica (Lou Stefanich), Patrick (Teri), Jennifer, Christopher (Mylene), Elizabeth (Brian) Dunleavy, and Timothy (Jamie); and grandchildren: Eddie (Colleene), Rachel (Caleb) Tkach, Melissa (Jacob) Sevening, Katie, Jessie, John, MaryKate, Maggie, Emily Larson, Ben Larson, Matthew (fiancée Brooke), Anna, Meggan, Erinn, Gretta, Ella, Hugh, Julia, Claire Dunleavy, Christopher Dunleavy, Thomas Dunleavy, Nell Dunleavy, Charlie, and Helena; and great-grandchildren Emilia, Teddy, and Cece Kocourek, and Harper Sevening; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Ed attended Resurrection Grade School, DeLaSalle High School, and the University of St. Thomas where he earned a degree in accounting. He began his career as a CPA at Main Lafrenz (now KPMG), followed by executive positions at Eddie Webster and Olson Companies, before serving as CFO and shareholder of the Egan Companies until his retirement.
A man of deep Catholic faith, Ed served God with integrity and good works. He generously gave his time and leadership to many Catholic organizations by serving on and chairing boards for St. John the Evangelist Parish and School, the Archdiocesan Board of Education, Benilde-St. Margaret's High School, College of St. Benedict, St. Mary's College (Indiana), Catholic Charities, NET Ministries, and the Catholic Community Foundation.

Ed loved singing in the church choir, traveling the world, reading, playing tennis and gin rummy with family members, proudly attending the activities of his children and grandchildren and teaching his grandchildren to invest in the stock market. He and Julie took up skiing in their 30s and began a cherished tradition of annual family ski trips to Lutsen Mountain. Many happy memories also were made at the family cabin on Eagle Lake, where Ed loved taking everyone on boat rides, and at their home in Sanibel, Florida, where he and Julie spent winters after retiring in 2001 and enjoyed visits from their growing family.

Visitation will be at 10:00 PM prior to a Mass of Chrisitan Burial. Memorials to St. Paul Seminary, St. John Vianney College Seminary, Pro-Life organizations, St. John Paul II School, or NET Ministries.
